Lucky Strike, the bowling-with-cocktails venue just off Lincoln Road, has closed.
Even though the lease doesn't end until the beginning of 2015, Lucky Strike chose to cancel a planned New Year's Eve party. Yesterday was its last official day.

Manager Risque Gilchrist confirmed the closure of the entertainment complex that featured a bar, full-service restaurant, and, of course, bowling, saying the lease ran out and, although they would have preferred to stay, the rent had been increased. Gilchrist did say that Lucky Strike plans to reopen and that the owners are looking at several spaces, including ones in Miami, saying, "We probably will not be on the Beach."
Gilchrist mentioned that although Lucky Strike had been at the same location for nearly a decade, many people would walk in saying they just discovered the place, alluding to the fact that the thousands of tourists who shop and dine on Lincoln Road never actually venture off the pedestrian mall to explore the various venues right around the corner.
Strangely enough, the Lucky Strike corporate website doesn't even list Florida as one of its location states. Short Order left a message at Lucky Strike Entertainment's headquarters in Sherman Oaks, California, but hasn't received a reply.
What will replace bowling on the Beach? Gilchrist says he heard rumors of Pottery Barn opening in the space. Miami.com reports, "We are also hearing Trader Joe's is eyeing that spot."
Alas, that's not true. A spokesperson for the Monrovia, California-based grocer dashed our hopes by email, saying, "A store in Miami Beach is not in our two-year plan at this time."
