Miami YouTuber's McLaren Crash Investigated by Florida Highway Patrol

Online commenters chastised Jack Doherty for fretting more about his sports car than about his bloodied pal riding shotgun.

YouTuber and Miami internet personality Jack Doherty crashed his $200,000 McLaren on Florida's Turnpike in Cutler Bay as he appeared to be texting while driving — and it was all captured on his livestream. Then it went viral on social media.

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles confirms to New Times that the agency is actively investigating the crash.

A clip from Doherty's Kick stream on Saturday, October 5, shows the 20-year-old looking down at his phone before suddenly accelerating and then losing control of his custom, light-blue, splatter-painted McLaren 570S and hydroplaning into a guardrail on the shoulder. The crash occurred on the turnpike southbound in Miami-Dade County.
"No, no, no," Doherty screams and the livestream momentarily cuts out.

Doherty continues streaming after he and his wingman/cameraman, Michael, get out of the car. The right side of Michael's face is bleeding, and the right side of the McLaren looks bad too.

Doherty instructs Michael to continue streaming.

"Bro, my whole fucking car, bro," Doherty can be heard saying. "No fucking way. Oh, my gosh. There is no fucking way."

Users posted clips on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Doherty himself shared a video showing bystanders trying to help extricate him and Michael from the vehicle.

"Help, help, help. Break the fucking window. Can you hold this?" Doherty can be heard saying as he requests a bystander to hold his phone as he's pulled from the wreck. "No, my fucking car, bro. Fuck, dude. My fucking car. Holy shit. No! Are you fucking kidding me, bro? No! Michael are you good? Oh shit."
Users were quick to point out the obvious.

"This new video of the Jack Doherty crash is even crazier his friend is literally fighting for his life in the car and he’s more worried about the car,🤦‍♂️" reads one representative sample.

Later, Doherty posted another video from a hospital where Michael can be seen receiving stitches.

Originally from Long Island, New York, the internet personality is infamous for his prank and stunt videos and for flaunting his wealth. He purchased the McLaren last year, according to a YouTube video from June 2023. A year earlier, he had announced his move to Miami from Los Angeles after his landlord filed to evict him.

Following Saturday's incident, Kick banned Doherty "for endangering a life while on stream."

Miami-Dade records indicate that Doherty was cited for speeding while driving his Tesla in Golden Beach in September 2022.
