Just when you thought Bal Harbour Shops couldn't possibly throw more money into the equation, it's up and done it again. As reigning champ of the blinged-out crowned title "Most Lucrative Shopping Mall in the World," the Disneyland of high-end consumerism is preparing to add yet another heavy hitter to its retail line up: Barneys New York.

According to exMiami, the mall's representatives announced that the department store will serve as a 250,000-square-foot "third anchor" in the upscale shopping expanse.

But perhaps older anchor sisters Saks and Neiman are jealous of the new arrival to the make-it-rain family. The mall has also agreed to prize them an appeasing facelift by expanding them both.

Though Barneys reportedly tossed a few other locales around the table (the Design District and Brickell City Centre -- another Whitman Family project in the works), the luxury retailer anointed the Bal Harbour Shops to house its first flagship store in Florida. (Barneys' other Miami store, located on Collins Ave. in South Beach, is one of the company's smaller "co-op" stores.)

Allegedly, mall officials are looking to relocate Village Hall to make way for the megalithic retail expansion.

There has been no word on any set construction dates. Barneys representatives did not return our request for comment.

All we do know is that soon, we can expect some of the huge blowout sales that Barneys so famously bestows. So start saving, everyone.
