Because You’re Worth It

Miami Spa Month provides our surefire summer splurge.

Sun, sand, surf, blah, blah, blah. Live here long enough, and you’ll realize it ain’t all it’s cracked up to be. Summer in Miami is too damn hot and humid to truly enjoy most of that outdoorsy stuff. The weather is stifling, the kids are at camp, and in these dog days, we’re seeking any relief we can find. We’re thankful the folks at the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (a.k.a. the people who run Miami Spice restaurant month) realize they’ve got a city full of locals with time on their hands and ports full of tourists with money to burn. To capitalize on that, they’ve come up with the sweetest concept ever: the first Miami Spa Month. And the overworked homemakers say, “Hallelujah!”

Throughout July, more than 20 of our town’s sweetest spas are offering $99 treatments, which in many cases is at least 50 percent off the retail value. The list of venues is nothing to sneeze at; it includes the lush ESPA at Acqualina, Aquanox at the Trump International Beach Resort, Le Spa at Le Meridien, and the spas at the Shore Club and the Setai. Besides the typical body polishes, facials, and massages, there are some unique specials to be found: Uhma Spa is offering an avocado and organic raw honey wrap with a Vichy shower and a dry-brush scrub, the Mandarin Oriental is featuring a 50-minute Oriental foot therapy session, and the Jurlique Spa’s “Journey to Havana — a mojito-inspired experience” sounds too divine to pass up. Visit www.miamispamonth.com to check out the services and book your appointment.
