Global Warming Can Be Glamorous
All this and more at the Yacht and Brokerage Show.
By KYLE MUNZENRIEDER
Published: February 14, 2008With global warming in full effect, it might not take more than a huddle of Arctic-based chain smokers to generate enough extra heat to flood Miami. So why not buy a yacht and be ready for our waterlogged future? That way your postapocalyptic aquatic life will be less Waterworld and more unrestrained opulence.
Beginning today the 20th annual Yacht and Brokerage Show will line Indian Creek with a billion dollars worth of boats. The five-day event, along Collins Avenue from 41st to 51st streets, features a few convenient truths, like international food and a floating cocktail barge, and runs from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Although you won't walk away with a boat for less than $250,000, admission and hope are free.
